Woodwind Quintet.

New: UNITED - Our first Release

About the Album

The Pacific Quintet’s debut album on Fuga Libera is a reflection of the diversity of its members and core focus. It also offers a nod to the composer who inspired the ensemble: Leonard Bernstein. Going beyond the standard classical repertoire, the prize-winning quintet (clarinet, horn, flute, oboe and bassoon) presents music from their home countries of Japan, Honduras, South Korea, Germany and Ukraine/Turkey in aprogramme that transcends their cultures, languages and traditions.

"This recording by the Pacific Quintet will be one of the most beautiful recordings of the work. Five young virtuosos perform the work magnificently. The group is nourished and inspired by different cultures; I think they understand the piece very well and play it with pleasure. In this way, everyone will enjoy listening to it."

About us

“Making music with friends is one of the most wonderful things about our job and this is just what the Pacific Quintet do. They are talented and dedicated musicians who are also great friends and they take much pride and joy in making music together. I have watched them develop into a world class quintet [...] and I am so proud of their success.”

Our Story

The Pacific Quintet, 2nd prize and audience award winners of the international ARD competition 2024 met in 2017 at the Pacific Music Festival, founded by Leonard Bernstein in Sapporo, Japan. Inspired by the passionate attention to music, the intercultural exchange and the respectful company with each other at the festival, the five musicians decided to carry Bernstein’s spirit to Europe and founded the Pacific Quintet in Berlin.
